2017 Pocas

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

An intense purple colour. Fresh nose of very ripe strawberries, showing some clean alcohol that hasn't fully integrated yet. Soft and smooth fruit with a huge pack of firm tannins; the fruit remiains smooth and sweet but this has a huge tannic load; a really big and old fashoned style of Port but one which has all the benefits of modern Port mahing knowledge. The ripe tannins hold firm through the aftertaste and very long finish that is packed with ripe blueberry. Very impressive, very big. 90-92/100. 16-Apr-19.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
