2005 Graham Malvedos

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep red in colour, not mature but not very young. Smooth, sweet blackcurrants on the nose, gentle and not distinct. Smooth with a nice texture on entry; plenty of mature fruit balanced by firm tannins and soft acidity; nicely finessed and nicely balanced. Fruit dominates the aftertaste and then the tannins are highlighted on the mouth-puckering finish. This is surprisingly soft and drinkable but with the grip and acidity to reward at least another decade in the cellar. Very pleasant drinking, much better than my previous encounter last year. 88/100. 16-Apr-19.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
