NV Kopke White (Very Old Dry)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

A limited edition of 350 bottles made from wines aged for at least 50 years. Golden green in colour; an oddly petrol nose — quite similar to the sort of nose you might expect on a mature Riesling. Smooth entry with an elegant texture. Dry on the palate with a slight green bitterness, the sort you find in hazelnut or walnut skins. Nicely balanced with plenty of flavours and tannins which highlight the acidity in the wine. Bitter orange and kumquat on the massive finish, a finish which goes on for so long! Very impressive Port, with finesse and power combining well. 95/100. 16-Apr-19. Opened 2 hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
