Transparent centre, but only just. A wonderful nose of ripe blackcurrant over a core of lime acidity — very inviting. Smooth and rounded fruit on entry then a massive wave of tannins grabs and holds the palate. This is a port which takes no prisoners. One of the bigger and more powerful ports of the vintage. Huge aftertaste with the chocolate tannins dominating everything before evolving into sharp blackcurrant skin and black chocolate. This is great, big, old-fashioned port. 93-95.

Re: 2016 Offley
O16 Deep ruby red with purple tinged rim. Good fruit on the nose. Smooth but thick with tannins on the texture. Good port but the tannic backbone showing more than some which had it slightly out of balance, but it felt like this port has very good ageing potential and I look forward to seeing it evolve.

95% opacity, totally red. Dark fruit on the nose. Full, high levels of coarse tannin, massively dry. Blackcurrant and plums. Big beast this one.
