2016 Quinta do Noval

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep and opaque. Slightly dirty on the nose, but under this it is sweet and intense with a twist of orange peel. Intense fruit on the palate then a powerful tannic core. Very big on the palate, full of juicy purple fruit; quite possibly the biggest palate of the 20 wines at this tasting. A delicious finish, dominated by the fruit and one which lasts a long time. Stunning - big but very well balanced. 93-95

Tasted 12 September 2018.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

N16 Deep ruby red. Wonderful nose. Lots of fruit on the palate, but tight with good texture and structure. A rich, full palate but smooth too. Felt like one that would age well and stand the test. A very nice port.

80% opacity, dull red. Acidity early on, dryness. Low-medium level of tannin. Good fruit along the palate.
