2016 Dow

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Dark and inky colour. A satisfying nose of damson jam. Dry in style on the palate, full of fruit before the violet-scented tannins crash in a wave over the palate to reveal the big tannic load in the wine. The fruit is pure, refined and present in generous helpings. The finish is very impressive, big and vibrant with lots of black licorice and green leaf tones. A very fine port. 93-95.

Tasted 12 September 2018.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

D16 Deep Ruby Red, Quite dry and austere. Some sweetness, but very tight, with more tannin showing than some. It felt different in style to most on the night. Very nice.
