1997 Fonseca

Post by TLW »

Eight hour decant, completely opaque. Nose mostly closed but a hint of prunes.

Closed and very sweet for a Fonseca, almost treacle, again with prunes and figs, but without the spiciness I have come to expect from the house . After a couple of days, had opened up a bit, but was still not ready, and somehow doubt that it will be within the next decade.

Very interesting tasting note. I don't see this Port drunk very often so useful to see a current impression.

I shall leave my handful in storage for a bit longer.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
