2000 Taylor

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

From the 2017 Berry Brothers Port Walk.

Mature red colour, 90% opaque. Limited nose, some sweet fig and star fruit. Initially hollow on the palate, with little fruit. The mid-palate is scarcely any better and air over the palate releases only tannins at first. Some of the flavour and potential of the wine on the palate appears with patience with the fruit eventually coming through — but so does the heat of the alcohol. This port is completely out of balance at the moment, but should be very impressive in the future. Scored for drinking today:- 86, but who knows how this will pull together and drink in the future? 86/100. 23-Nov-17.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
