2015 Quinta dos Murcas

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

3,500 bottles produced. Deep red colour, nearly purple in tone - an unusual colour for the vintage. No rim, intensely coloured. Little showing on the nose other than hints of perfumed blueberry. Neutral entry, a little fruit but then a wave of black cherry crashes over the palate, followed by an even bigger wave of massively gripping tannins. The aftertaste is full of black cherry fruit backed by persistent dark chocolate tannins. An incredible finish, huge in flavour and very long lasting. This is a dramatically different interpretation of the vintage: big, rich and pwerfully tannic that has a great balance. One of the top ports from the vintage. 93-95/100. 06-Nov-17.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
