2015 Quinta da Gaivosa

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

From Alves de Sousa. The first vintage in which both a Gaivosa and an Alves de Sousa vintage port has been released. Dark red with a wide rim. Very muted on the nose, nothing more than a little restrained fruit. Lovely elegant entry with elegant and refined fruit over very gentle tannins. A beautiful balance to the mid-palate with the elegance continuing with the acidic foil to the fruit. The fruit opens up and really hits its stride on the late palate. The aftertaste is modest and the finish is fruit-led. This is a pleasant and elegant port that seems typical of this "pretty" vintage. 87-89/100. 06-Nov-17.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
