Cn27. Cloudy, red-brown 40% opaque. Palate had some high-toned elements: melons (not in that sense), and spearmint. Excellently balanced, soft, but much lighter than perfect.

Deep brown in colour, the colour of polished olive wood; 90% opaque. Lovely Golden Syrup on the nose, sweet and honeyed but with the added interest of pepper dust and mandarin zest. A lovely texture on the palate, smooth and round with lots of brown sugar flavours and a wonderful mandarin acidity. Delightful development, rich and full palate but just delivers layer after layer of flavour and complexity. This port has a huge palate. The aftertaste is terrific; big, full of orange yet with dry cinnamon tannins coating the tongue. The finish really is astonishing as it moves through multiple phases. Great stuff. 95/100.

A good example of the difference in preference between JDAW's palate and mine. I loved this, he thought it a little light.

I agree complex, but complex and delicate. A “huge palate”: really?

Bottle in good condition, but very much the lesser of the wines present (not counting the faulty).
