2015 Dow Senhora da Ribeira

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

From an extended tasting spread over 4 days, allowing the wine to change and develop over the course of that time.

This is a lovely deep purple colour, but with a wide rim. Perfumed nose with lots of blueberry and rock rose, lovely and inviting. A delicate, pretty and fragrant port with a high acidity core and gentle tannins. The fruit is refined and elegant with lovely flower perfumes infusing the palate. Surprisingly for Dow, the finish is a little sweet and sticky. This clearly has the acidity to last and evolve but feels like a port which will be gentle and elegant into its middle-age. 89-91. This port typifies this pretty vintage.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
