2000 Warre Colheita (bottled 2017)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottled 2017. Tasted at the BA Galleries Lounge (South) in Heathrow Terminal 5. Red mahogany in colour, glowing and attractive. Some treacle and caramel on the nose, but not very pronounced. Balanced and intense on the palate with stronga acidity supporting dates and dried figs. On the mid-palate this shows lots of baked apple and red toffee, but always with intense acidity. The aftertaste burns from the acidity and shows a little unintegrated alcohol, but this settles to a long and peppery aftertaste of aniseed gobstoppers - candied but very flavoursome. 89/100. Drunk 12-Oct-17.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
