1897 Graham

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep orange colour with a green rim, 20% opaque. Gentle marmalade on the nose together with a kick of whisky. An immediate sensation of gentle toffee and coffee, swiftly followed by a huge burst of bitter juniper and clover honey. Big in flavour, dry and full of bitter orange oil. Very hot aftertaste with the alcohol showing very strongly but this quickly fades to leave the bitter marmalade sensation of infinite length. A fantastic snapshot of history, alive and vigorous. 93/100. Drunk 10-Oct-17. Decanted 20 hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
