1970 Warre
A bottle with an extruded cork and a mid shoulder fill. Copper-bronze colour, clean and glowing; 50% opaque. Dusty candied cherries on the nose, smelling delicious. Smooth and light entry, full of flavour with sage spiciness mixed into maraschino cherry. Lots of flavours on the palate, full of development with multiple layers of flavour moving throughout the initial, middle and late palate. Delicious dusty tones to the sweet fruit, beautifully balanced with gentle acidity and just a tiny hint of tannins. Big aftertaste, lots of sweet cherry and great sage spiciness. Lovely length, gentle but ever-so flavoursome. Delicious fruit, lovely port - yet another great example of a mature and delicious Warre. 92/100. 23-Sep-17. Decanted 3 hours.
