2015 Ramos Pinto Ervamoira

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

From Ramos Pinto. Purple and with a narrow rim. Restrained nose, showing only a little sour blackcurrant. Very smooth in texture, almost silky at first until the huge tannins grab your tongue. The tannins dominate at first, although there is plenty of ripe, round fruit which works it way to the fore eventually. Huge, chewy aftertaste but the tannins quickly release their grip to leave a lingering and perfumed fruit essence. A really lovely and elegant port. 91-93/100. 23-Jun-17. Pop 'n' pour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
