1970 Dow

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Opened for lunch at a seafood restaurant in Matsosinhos.

Mature brick red colour, 30% opaque. A wonderful fragrant nose bringing lots of sweet Turkish Delight. Jellied red fruits slide onto the palate, lively and vibrant, delivering a port that is not as dry as might have been expected. A spark of light flares on the aftertaste, which brightens the aftertaste and long, fruity and delicious finish. Great port. 93/100. 21-Jun-17. Decanted 4½ hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
