2000 Graham

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Drunk at the Graham's Lodge at the end of a tour of the new visitors centre. Ex-cellars.

Deep red with the bricking tone just starting to appear; 95% opaque. Quite fresh smelling on the nose with plenty of fruit, but not yet settled down into a mature balance being still slighty aggressive and youthful. Nice and balancd on entry showing what the nose will develop into; the fruit is a little restrained and surprisingly dry. The texture is a little watery but the palate is full of flavour, with delicious toasted tannins and a good focus of acidity. A lovely warm aftertaste fills the mouth before a delicious dry tannin-driven finish. This needs another 20 years but will be a very fine port. 90/100. 20-Jun-17.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
