1942 Fonseca Guimaraens

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Pale in the glass, the colour of fresh beechwood; 20% opaque. Oxidised nose but accompanied by a very pleasant orange essence. Oranges on the palate too, combining with a long coffee finish. Not a bad port, but poorly stored at some point in its life resulting in an oxidised wine which shows hints of what it might have been. 82/100. 19-Jun-17. Decanted 1 hour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
