Deep orange colour, 20% opaque. Toffee apples on the nose, sweet but also hinting at being acidic. Sweet red toffee on the palate with a nice cleansing apple acidity. A nicely done touch of VA adds an element of complexity – it is so difficult to get the VA element right so it adds complexity but does not overwhelm the rest of the flavours but this port gets it just right. Sweet and a little one-dimensional on the late palate with a slightly cloying aftertaste and a lively (but also cloying) finish. 85/100. 24-May-17.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
