2011 Cockburn

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Tasted at the Symington Family Estates presentation of their 2015 ports.

3,000 cases produced. Dark red and opaque, less purple-plum than the 2015 vintage shown alongside. A fragrant nose, well developed and showing very nicely; vigorous, youthful but with a delightful and mouthwatering balance. Smooth entry with concentrated fruit that has a lovely texture and an amazing depth; soft and gentle chocolate tannins showing throughout. A wonderful aftertaste that is full of sweet fruit, subtle and delicious. A lovely balanced and harmonious port. 95/100. Drunk 18-May-17. Decanted 2 hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
