NV Taylor Anniversary 325 Reserve Tawny

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

On 11th May 2017 Taylor Fladgate held a dinner in the New Armoury of the Tower of London to celebrate their 325th anniversary. Two ports were served at the dinner, one was this. The other was an Imperial of Taylor 1977.

Deep brick red colour, 90% opaque and with a rim that is rose coloured. Gentle treacle nose, a slight soft VA after a swirl but the nose is lively and fresh and full of soft red apples. Silky texture with gentle red pear flavours. Strong acidity support the sweet fruit and rounded edges — fresh and quite lovely but lacking a little concentration. Soft aftertaste with candied fruit and a long finish of rhubarb and brown sugar of good length. Sticky on the finish and full of burnt raisins. 85/100.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
