1977 Cockburn

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

A bicentenary release bottle available for £135 from Bar Douro in Flat Iron Square. Mature appearance; smoky but sweet fruit nose. Sweet and balanced jelly bean and red licorice palate with cleansing acidity and a great fragrance, lovely and clean but with plenty of impact. A peppery mace aftertaste and a sweet red licorice finish. This port is just delicious, elegant and refined but not in a wimpy way. 93/100. Drunk 03-May-17. Decanted 1 hour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
