2007 Duorum

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Sourced from Oakley Wines, UK agent for Duorum and Quinta do Sagrado. Deep garnet in colour, narrow rim and an opaque centre - not looking at all like a 10 year old port! A lovely nose of fresh cornflowers and blackcurrants. Assertive slightly sour blackcurrant fruit on entry, powerful acidity sears the palate before the dry tannins bring a little relief. Air reveals the lovely floral tones picked up on the nose and softens the acidity a little. The blackcurrant dominates the late palate and leads into a fierce acidic kick on the aftertaste. The acidity softens to bring an incredibly long dark chocolate and fresh blackcurrant finish that lasts for a good five minutes. Bright, young and powerful, this is a very impressive port which has all the components to turn into a long lived and elegant beauty. I look forward to following this port over the next few decades. I will make a note to open the next one in 10 years time. 94/100. Drunk 14-Apr-17. Decanted 24 hours.
