Drunk at the SQVP Night Tasting.

Deep red with no bricking, but also with no signs of purple in the tone; 90% opaque. A slight touch of heat on a fresh dark fruited nose, inviting and promising to be tasty. Young and slightly aggressive on entry with lots of fruit and still a touch of lavender. Plenty of acidity keeps the port alive and there a still ghosts of dry tannins on the palate. The elements all combine to give a big mouthful on the palate. Fragrant aftertaste with a long chocolate finish, sweet and fragrant. This is a nice port, still rather young and one which would benefit from 5-10 years of further cellaring. Served blind, this was guessed to be Malvedos 1987. 88/100. Drunk 07-Sep-17. Decanted 13½ hours.
