40% opacity, warm red, clear. Lovely sweet smooth entry, great balance and structure. Dark red fruits, damson. I guessed G70.

Quarles Harris. Mature red in colour, 70% opaque. Rather hollow nose with very little showing. Lovely sweet fruit on entry but restrained and initially lacking that je ne sais quois. Gentle tannins on the palate, surprisingly youthful in their feel, support a very nice development of flavours and textures. The aftertaste is full of sweet fruit before a surprisingly big and chewy finish takes over. This is very good port, but also quite early on its maturity plateau. Served blind this was guessed to be Warre 1980. 92/100. 09-Aug-17.

BBR = QH 77. Dark red, 60% opaque. Red-fruited, big sweetness. Coffee and cream too.
