45% opacity, rich warm red. Rich, full mouthfeel, red fruits. Pleasant but not spectacular.

Good red colour, no purple but no bricking; 70% opaque. A big nose with lots of sweet red cherry fruit. Sweet on the palate, lacking a little acidity. Air improves the palate and adds some hints of peppercorn. Big and round and with a decent level of acidity, but where the acidity is mostly hidden behind the sweet ripe fruit. Vague hints of dry woody tannins remain on the afteraste, which is followed by a fragrant finish of great length. Served blind, this was guessed to be Calem 1985. 83/100. 09-Aug-17. Decanted 11 hours.
