2015 Dow Senhora da Ribeira

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

700 cases produced. Maroon with a slight blue tone, opaque. A lovely fruit-forward nose with lots of blackcurrant and a touch of lavender; very nice but less pronounced than the Graham Stone Terraces shown first at this tasting. A joyous nose. Languid on entry, beautifully balanced with sweet fruit and soft tannins. A huge mouthful of fruit with generous levels of sweet blackcurrant and a delicious fragrance. The balance is the overwhelming impression and gives great pleasure from simply holding the wine on the palate and mixing it with air to release the fragrances. Sweet, slightly sticky , fruit and a finish that gets chewy at the end of the very, very long finish. Nice, balanced and very elegant. 92-94/100.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
