2015 Cockburn

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Maroon with a lovely purple-plum colour, opaque. Subdued nose at first of lovely fresh fruit with depth and power. This opens up further with a little more time in the glass. Balanced and silky entry with a lovely texture. Sweet blackcurrant fruit and a delicious ripe tannic core. The blackcurrant grows on the palate; lively and full of joie de vivre. A lovely burst of rock rose blossoms on the aftertaste, slowly fading to leave a dry and tasty sweet blackcurrant finish of amazing ripeness. A really fine port. 93-95/100.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
