2011 Dalva

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

A pleasant red colour with no youthful tones and a narrow rim. Youth shows on the blackcurrant nose and the fruit on the palate is sweet and luscious with plenty of tannins giving grip on the mid-palate. The aftertaste changes from blackcurrant to black cherry with an extra layer of sweetness coming over the top of the dark fruit, leading to a long chocolate finish. Although I enjoyed this wine, the individual components felt a little disjointed giving the impression that this port could be starting to shut down. 87/100. Drunk 04-Apr-17.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
