Re: 1987 Martinez
Deep red with no bricking, 90% opaque. Deep and dirty briar fruits with lots of violet cream. Chocolate Bourbons on entry, full of spice and life with plenty of red fruit. A lovely acidity and the ghost of dusty tannins, but dominated by the fruit. Some acidity and heat shows on the aftertaste before the sweet tinned red cherry pie filling takes over, supported by dark chocolate tannins. Still youthful but with plenty of promise. Served blind this was guessed to be Warre 1991. 91/100. Drunk 19-Apr-17. Decanted 7 hours.
