Quite dark in the decanter for a 34 year old port. Smelling of black currants, a first taste straight after decanting is very discouraging; there's a sourness and bitterness I didn't enjoy at all. I nearly decided the bottle was spoiled and tipped it away but I decided to give it another chance and left it over night. The next day I'm glad I did, I don't know what the problem was the night before but the next day it's come together quite well. There's still a slight astringency mid-palette but it's only very faint and it doesn't spoil it at all. Quite a light port, with faint tannins still there and tasting of blackberry and raspberries. 88 points.
