NV William Pickering tawny 20YO

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Produced by Quinta do Noval for Berry Brothers & Rudd. Served at Berry's The Wine Show Dinner. A warm rust-red colour, about 40% opaque. A good dose of VA on the nose, bringing caramel and blood oranges with it; rather a warming nose of fireside port. Smooth on entry with gentle acidity smoothing the way; some honey and lots of blood orange. A lovely blood orange reduction on the aftertaste and a pleasant brown sugar finish. Not a blockbuster, but a reliable mid-range 20 year old tawny. 86/100. Drunk 27-Mar-17.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
