NV Waitrose Fine Tawny

From Symington Family Estates. Gentle brick red in colour; 70% opaque. Lovely nose of gentle toffee apple, sweet yet with fruit and some acidity. The red apple juice comes through on the palate, sweetened by brown sugar. The late palate is a little harsh and unbalanced, full of cola flavours. The acidity shows hot on the aftertaste and quickly morphs into an odd plastic and burnt rubber finish that is unpleasantly long. Not a wine I shall buy by choice but should just about be able to finish off the two glasses left in the bottle. 79/100. Drunk 01-Mar-17.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
