NV Graham Tawny 20YO (bottled 2016)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottled 2016; acquired from Waitrose.

A deep mellow amber in colour, 40% opaque. A lovely nose of bruised apples and soft caramel invites a sip to be taken. The sip yields brown sugar and a powerful acidity that keeps the palate clean and focused. Honey and lemon fight for control of the palate, but with a lovely delicacy and nutty nuance. Hazelnut praline on the aftertaste and a very pleasant finish of creme brulee. Very satisfying port and held up well to the extended decant. 90/100. Drunk 01-Mar-17.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
