2004 Croft LBV

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

One of the Tesco promotion half bottles. Bottled 2009. Not decanted, but poured carefully into two glasses to minimise the sediment transfer - although that didn't work very well. Mature cherry red colour, still opaque centre. Fruity nose of slightly sour cherries. Smooth and rounded entry bringing generous cherry fruit with a hint of dark chocolate. Almost no tannins but a well placed dose of acidity sitting under the sour cherry. Delicious cherry and cocoa finish with a good length. These bottles are very enjoyable still! 87/100. Drunk 25-Feb-17. Decanted 1 hour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
