1995 Quinta do Vesuvio

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Brick red in colour, just off opaque in the centre. Stewed nose mixing sharp acidity with baked bramble. A touch hollow on entry bringing dry tannin with the baked fruit. The fruit grows on the palate but is always dominated by the tannins. It has a good aftertaste and a strong finish. Oddly baked and disappointing enough for Joao Vasconcellos to have opened another bottle. 86/100. Drunk 21-Feb-17.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
