1985 Dow

Mid red and mature appearance; 80% opaque. Gentle, fresh and fruity nose - much younger smell than would be expected from the colour and appearance. Lovely mature fruit on entry, balanced and fresh with perfect acidity. Sweet fruit on the mid-palate with just a hint of tannins; the whole combines to give a terrific sense of freshness and balance. Blackberries are all over the aftertaste and fresh finish. This is very fine port at its peak, but not in a hurry to be drunk. 94/100. Drunk 21-Feb-17.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
