2005 Quinta do Noval Silval

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep red with a very narrow rim; a touch of brick to the purple tone. A terrific nose of ripe and sweet fruit yet with a streak of rhubarb acidity. Smooth entry, languid arrival with the fruit coy and shy to make an appearance at first. Air releases a generous dose of tannin and plenty of black cherry fruit. There is some heat on the aftertaste before the black cherry and dark chocolate takes over the generous finish. 88/100. Drunk 13-Feb-17. Decanted ½ hour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
