NV Quinta do Noval Tawny 40YO (bottled 2015)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottled 2015. The colour of molasses, a deep and burnished orange. A powerful nose of burnt orange, sea salt and a touch of VA adds complexity. Thick and rich on the palate, coating the mouth with flavours of concentrated bitter-sweet orange marmalade dominating with just a touch too little acidity to prevent the sugar and orange overloading the palate. A huge mouthful of flavour but this is a port which would overwhelm after just one glass! Long and concentrated finish of burnt marmalade. 94/100. Drunk 13-Feb-17.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
