1968 Quinta do Noval Colheita (bottled 2017)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottled on the 23rd day of 2017. Lightly coloured, a pale burnt ochre that is only 10% opaque. Powerful nose of pistachio paste and lime oil. Nice oily texture on the palate with rich flavours holding the bitterness of the skins on a nut kernel with the sweetness of caramelised orange. The overall impression is of a rich and complex wine with a wonderful balance. Hints of tannin lurk on the aftertaste, an aftertaste which delivers dried apricot and dried pineapple into a very long finish. This is a perfectly balanced colheita and a great gift for anyone turning 50 next year. 94/100. Drunk 13-Feb-17.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
