2011 Quinta do Noval LBV (unfiltered)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

I heard an alternative explanation of the printed code on the bottle at this tasting, which was that the code "6082" means that the bottle was filled on the 82nd day of 2016. Either way, this LBV was bottled unfiltered in 2016.

Youthful red colour with none of the purple of babyhood; opaque on the centre. Restrained on the nose showing some flower perfume and ripe passion fruit. Nice entry with good weight and presence, bringing soft strawberry offset by gentle tannins. There is some nice development on the palate which remains soft and harmonious. The aftertaste is pleasant led by the fruit but maintaining the harmony from the palate. Very enjoyable. 86/100. Drunk 13-Feb-17.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
