NV Quinta do Noval Black

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Mid-red colour with hints of youth on the rim. Aggressive raspberry and rhubarb on the nose but the entry onto the palate is much sweeter than promised by the smell. The entry is a little lightweight and the flavours are restrained even on the mid-palate. Only late does a delicate fruit and tannin balance come through. The finish is gentle and reminds me of sour yellow damsons. This is lighter than I remember, but pleasant enough. 82/100. Drunk 13-Feb-17.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
