2012 Quinta do Noval

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep purple in colour, opaque except at the very edge of the narrow rim. Big nose with powerful fruit and generous flower perfume. Soft textured entry, silky but with gentle tannins under the generous ripe fruit. The palate has great balance and elegance and a beautiful rounded texture (that is very difficult to spit!). The perfumed fruit continues on the aftertaste and only when the fruit from the aftertaste fades do the tannins become obvious on the finish. This is a wonderfully harmonious and balanced vintage port. 92/100. Tasted 13-Feb-17.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
