1977 Royal Oporto Colheita (bottled 2012)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottled 2012. Deep brown centre with a light orange rim; 50% opaque. A distinctive nose, full of beeswax and molasses. Big on entry with a thick texture and gentle fruit at first. This is followed by a big wave of acidity brings a burst of burnt caramel and burnt orange flavours. The intense flavours give a great aftertaste and a powerful finish that is intense and very long. This is a lovely colheita with great weight. 92/100. Drunk 29-Sep-16.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
