1974 Quevedo Colheita (bottled 2013)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Drunk at Quevedo's Quinta Santa Rosario with Oscar and Claudia Quevedo and Christian Gollnick. Bottled 2013. Deep peach in colour with just a hint of green on the rim; 20% opaque. Subdued on the nose, bringing pleasant varnish and wood oils. Lovely toasted nuts and sesame seed entry; adding air opens up the palate to allow honey and Mediterranean herbs to show through. A wonderful chewy finish. This is refined, elegant and slightly sweet and saves its punch to the finish.

Wine of the night votes gave 12 points to this wine (out of 18), 11 to the Dalva 1985 colheita and 5 to each of the Kopke 1985 and Dalva 1975 colheitas. 89/100. Drunk 28-Sep-16.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
