NV Graham Tawny 40YO (bottled 2016)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Drunk with a picnic lunch on the terrace of Echo House at Quinta do Bomfim. This bottle was purchased in the shop of the visitor's centre at Bomfim. Bottled 2016. Dark amber brown colour, 40% opaque. Lovely sweet nose, rich and honeyed with hints of high-gloss shoe polish. Smooth in the mouth with a mass of acidity releasing deep orange flavours, concentrated and luxurious on the palate with a wonderful thick texture. The smooth coating over the mouth delivers a powerful aftertaste of orange and dried apricots which slowly morphs into a wonderful Dundee marmalade. This made delightful chilled drinking while sitting on a hot terrace overlooking the river Douro under a cloudless sky. 93/100. Drunk 28-Sep-16. Decanted ½ hour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
