2014 Pintas

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep purple in colour with a narrow rim. Sweet fruit on the nose; very perfumed with orange blossom and a hint of lemongrass mixed into the deep blackcurrant. Lovely pure fruit on the palate with ripe and toasted tannins combining perfectly with an elegant acidity. There is a wonderful purity and elegance to the palate before the late palate reveals some unexpected and delightful floral elements. The aftertaste is slightly chewy before giving way to a fabulous black licorice and black cherry finish. An excellent port. Score for this snapshot tasting: 93-95/100.

2,000 bottles produced, available in the UK through Corney & Barrow. Drunk 27-Sep-16.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
