2011 Quinta da Romaneira

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

500 cases produced, a blend of 90% Touriga Nacional and 10% Touriga Francesa old vines. Fat fruit on the nose but with a slight blue cheese note from the spirit used. The fruit is rich and luscious on entry with blackcurrants dominating the flavours. A huge acidic structure keeps a very fresh focus; the acidity is fierce and hides the tannins but these show as a spicy and peppery aftertaste and a long blackcurrant finish. Rounded and lovely. 90/100. Drunk 26-Sep-16. Pop 'n' pour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
