NV Olazabal Finest Reserve

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

A new brand from the owner of Vale Meao. Bottled unfiltered and capable of aging a few years like a crusted port would be; the inspiration was Cristiano van Zeller's Lote 06 based on declassified lotes of port from the 2006 vintage. Dark red colour with a bit of bricking on the rim; 90% opaque. Sweet fruit on the nose, revealing itself to be raspberries when the port moves onto the palate. Soft but with a hint of green grass and tannins. Gentle finish, very pleasant but not long lasting. A light, easy to drink and delicious port. 88/100. Tasted 02-Mar-16
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
